(Canandaigua, NY) A Lifetime Achievement Award was recently presented by the New York State Society of Opticians, Inc. to the Optical Manager of The Eye Care Center, Carol Marx, LDO, FCLSA. Marx was honored for her fourty-seven years of contributions to the advancement of eye care and her ongoing development of the state’s opticians. She began her work in eye care back in 1972 at an optician located in the Buffalo area after completing her degree, Applied Science of Ophthalmic Dispensing. Her work at The Eye Care Center started in 1999.
“It’s wonderful that Carol was recognized with this award,” said Dr. Sungjun J. Hwang, principal doctor with The Eye Care Center. “This achievement recognizes her service to our patients, to the profession, and her ongoing commitment to education.”
Currently, Marx serves as the Chair of the NYS Ophthalmic Dispensing Board through the New York State Education Department. Marx is also a member of the Contact Lens Society of America, where she was named a Fellow, and the New York State Society of Opticians. In 1990, she received the Member of the Year award in the Rochester chapter.
Through her work at The Eye Care Center, Marx manages the staff who serve patients, as well as an ophthalmic technician, who manages many of the optical orders. Her goal is to keep updating lenses to make sure individuals have excellent choices when shopping for eye wear.
