It can be easy to assume that common eye problems are only temporary and will resolve over time. But when it comes to your sight, it’s simply not worth ignoring the warning signs. Here are some of key indicators that you need to schedule an eye exam.
1. Your Vision Has Become Blurry, Wavy, or Increasingly Strained
Many assume that blurred vision, eye strain, and other related distortions are something experienced only by older adults. The truth is that they can occur at any point in a person’s life. If you’ve noticed that it’s becoming more difficult to focus on people and objects throughout your day, having your eyes examined can help identify the cause and possibly prevent the condition from worsening.
2. You’re Having Difficulty Seeing at Night or Transitioning From Light to Dark
As you age, it’s not uncommon if your eyes gradually become more sensitive to light and dark. However, when it happens at a younger age or the problem intensifies rapidly, it could be the result of an eye injury, eye infection, or structural problem within the eye itself. Having an eye exam as soon as light/dark sensitivity becomes apparent is strongly advised in order to treat the underlying cause.
3. You’re Experiencing Eye Pressure or Frequent Headaches
There are a number of reasons why you may experience occasional eye pressure, and no shortage of things in life that inspire headaches. However, if you’re experiencing both eye pressure and a headache simultaneously, it should be taken as a sign to schedule an eye exam. It could be something as simple as nearsightedness or far sightedness, or something more concerning such as astigmatism or nerve damage.
